More than 580,000 Home Design Inc. beds were recalled Thursday after reports that the beds — sold at several major online retailers — can break during use, which has already resulted in dozens of injuries.
Consumers can check their beds against the listed part numbers at Home Design’s website to see if their bed is affected by the recall. Consumers who purchased any one of the beds should “immediately stop using” them and contact Home Design Inc. with a photo of the bed, a photo of the law label and proof of purchase. Home Design will send a free repair kit.
A number of high-profile recalls have made headlines in recent weeks, most notably in the food industry. The FDA is still investigating elevated lead and chromium levels in WanaBana, Weis and Schnucks baby food pouches. And Quaker Oats is undergoing a recall of Cap’n Crunch, Chewy and other food brands due to salmonella concerns. Last month, Tesla recalled nearly all 2 million of its vehicles due to concern about their Autopilot feature, automatically sending out a software update to the affected cars.
2,300 mattress pads from Bokser were also recalled on Thursday because they were a fire hazard, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Those mattresses violate mandatory federal flammability regulations, though no incidents were reported with those products.
